Old North Foundation
Directing the development of all educational and interpretation programs at the Old North Church, Boston. Scope includes: Organizing and implementing interpretive master plan, development of public programs and development of school-age education programs.
Freedom Trail Foundation
Creation of educational programs and materials for the Freedom Trail, Boston
Including:
* Teacher Resource Materials
* Re-design of tour to meet state and national education standards
Newburyport Maritime Society
Development of entirely new education program including: Four new programs,
including two outreach programs
*At Your Service: An interactive program which teaches students the relationship
between taxes and government and community services.
*Who's Got the Goods: Simulation program that demonstrates the role of labor, transportation,
raw goods and manufactured goods in the Trans-Atlantic Trade.
* The Dory Story: Form, Function and Physics: Hands-on program which teaches the physics of boats and how form and
function inform the design process.
* Interactive Tour: Hands-on tour of the museum collection
Lynn Public Schools
* Developed year-long curriculum to introduce students to the historical
structures in school neighborhoods.
Professional Development
National Endowment for the Arts
The Boston Public Library: Art, Architecture and the Public Square: National Endowment for the Arts teacher institute. Developed an institute model to investigate the art and architecture of public buildings and spaces, their impact on the life of their communities, and how those things can be used as effective teaching tools. Part of a multi-year federal study to determine the efficacy of integrating arts education into other curricular areas.
Historic New England
(Formerly SPNEA)* Train guides of historic homes to improve communication and presentation
to children’s and family groups
Massachusetts Studies Project
* Lead instructor for Summer Institute: “Massachusetts Towns in American History”, an institute bringing museum educators and classroom teachers together
to develop materials and programs for use in their communities
Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation
* Provide training for historic and commercial sites to improve student
programming and compliance with state and national educational standards
Student-Youth Travel Association of North America
* Developed
resource guide explaining the role and requirements of state and national
curriculum standards for members of Student Travel community * Presented “No Child Left Behind and Student Programming” at national
conference and in-house “SYTA University”
